Hangshots arranges small-group photography meetups. This policy describes exactly what the app collects, why, and who it goes to. It covers the Hangshots iOS app and nothing else.
The short version. Hangshots collects what it needs to run your account and schedule meetups. There is no advertising, no analytics tracking, no third-party trackers, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. You can permanently delete your account and its data from inside the app at any time.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | Account creation, email confirmation, and password reset. Your email is never shown to other members. |
| Password | Stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We never see or store the plain text. |
| Username and display name | Signing in, and identifying you to other members of a meetup. |
| Profile details — bio, home city, skill level, interests, portfolio link, Instagram handle, avatar | Shown to other signed-in members. All optional except display name. |
| Photos you upload — avatar, portfolio, and session photos | Displayed on your profile and on the meetup they belong to. Images are downscaled on your device before upload. |
| Weekly availability and match frequency | Used by the automatic matching job. Visible only to you. |
| RSVPs and group assignments | To run meetups and avoid sending you to the same location repeatedly. |
| Camera equipment list | Optional. Private by default — only shown to others if you turn on "Show my gear publicly". |
| Precise location | Only when you tap "use my current location" while adding a photography site. Those coordinates are saved as that site's location. The app does not track your location in the background or at any other time. |
| Reports and blocks | To keep the community safe and to act on objectionable content. |
Only the service providers that make the app work, and only to the extent they need:
Nobody else receives your data. We may disclose information if legally required to, or where necessary to protect someone's safety.
Photos are served from public storage URLs containing random identifiers. They aren't listed or searchable, but anyone given a direct link could open it, so treat uploaded photos as shareable.
Open Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and removes your account, profile, photos, RSVPs, availability, gear list, and blocks.
One exception: if someone reported content of yours, the moderation record is kept without anything identifying you, so we retain a history of safety decisions. It cannot be traced back to your deleted account.
No system is perfectly secure, but the app is built so that a mistake in one place doesn't expose everything.
Hangshots arranges meetings between people in physical locations. You must be at least 17 years old to use it, and you confirm this when you create an account. We record only that the confirmation was given — we don't collect your date of birth. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 17; if you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
You can view and change most of your information in the profile editor, and delete everything from inside the app. Depending on where you live — including the EEA, the UK, and California — you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, ask for corrections, or object to certain processing. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Hangshots is operated from the United States, and data is stored on servers managed by the providers listed above.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top is updated and the new version is posted here before it takes effect.
